Track your pill

To log your pill, just look at the pack on screen to see which pill you're on today, then tap "Taken." There's no need to enter the name of your medicine or anything about your doctor.

What is it?

A feature that recreates your pill pack inside the app so you can log each pill. Your break days and expected bleeding appear on the calendar in the same place as period predictions, so you can use them as a guide when making plans. You choose whether your partner can see it (it's hidden at first).

How to use it

  • Start from "Pill tracker" in Search COUPPLY on the Home screen, from "I'm on the pill" under "Mode" in the "..." menu in the top right of the Period tracker, or from "Start tracking your pill" on the screen you see when you first open the Period tracker.
  • You're asked just 2 questions at the start. ① Choose the type of pack you take from the pictures (21 pills + 7-day break, 28 pills (21 active + 7 placebo), 28 pills (24 active + 4 placebo), or continuous use). ② On the picture of the pack, tap the pill you're taking (or took) today. Pills before today are logged as taken.
  • Each day, tap "Taken" on the Pill tracker screen to log your pill. If you tapped it by mistake, tap it again to undo it. You can also log it by tapping today's pill on the pack. On break days, you'll see "Today is a break day."
  • If you didn't tap "Taken" on a day, the next day you'll see something like "No record for (date) (pill 13)." Choose "Took it" if you just forgot to log it, or "Missed it" if you forgot to take it. When you choose "Missed it," that day is marked with an × on the pack, and advice on what to check when you miss a pill opens. (You're only asked about the day before. Earlier days you didn't log are treated as taken.)
  • Tap a pill from a past day to change it to "Took it" or "Missed it" later. You can also add or remove "Bleeding" there.
  • If the pill reminder is on, on days you haven't logged "Taken," you get one more reminder 2 hours later (only when "Log "Taken" every day" is on).
  • If logging every day feels like too much, turn off "Log "Taken" every day" in the pill settings. Your pack moves forward each day as if you took your pill, with nothing for you to do (your break days and expected bleeding are still shown). While it's off, the pack doesn't show taken or missed marks; it only shows where you are in the current pack.
  • On days you have bleeding, tap "Bleeding" on today's card (tap it again to undo it). For earlier days, tap that day's pill on the pack (break days too) and choose "Bleeding." Days with bleeding get a blood drop on the pack and are also saved to your Period tracker records (days in a row are grouped into one record).
  • On the calendar, these appear in the same place as period predictions: "Break days" (days you don't take active pills, shown with a pill icon), "Bleeding phase" (days you're likely to bleed, shown with a blood drop), and "Sensitive phase" (just before and during your break, when headaches and bloating are said to be more common). In the month view, break days show only the break icon, without the sensitive phase icon. The month view also shows labels under the dates, like "New pack," "Pill 8," "Pill 15," "Pill 22," and "Break starts" (or "Placebo starts"), so you can see when your next pack or break begins. Tap the line in the 3-day or week view to open the Pill tracker. You can choose whether "Bleeding phase" and "Sensitive phase" show on your own calendar in "Items to track" from the "..." in the top right of the Period tracker.
  • The Pill tracker screen shows which pill you're on today, how many days until your break, the date of each pill on the pack (expected bleeding days are pink), and the dates of your "Next bleeding" and when your "Break starts" (or your "Next pack" during a break). Tap a date card to open that day on the calendar.
  • Once you start tracking your pill, the Pill tracker screen opens first when you open the Period tracker (from search, the "Health" tab in the bottom navigation, and so on).
  • Below the bleeding log, your recent bleeding records (from start to end date) are shown. To change or delete dates, use "See all records." The same list also shows your periods before and after the pill.
  • From the "..." in the top right of the screen, you can change how you take it (choose again from the pack pictures; today's pill number carries over), today's pill number, when expected bleeding starts and how long it lasts, the pill reminder, and whether to show it to your partner. You can also stop tracking your pill here.
  • When the pill reminder is on, you get a notification at a set time (9 PM at first) that says "Time for today's check," which doesn't mention the pill. It isn't sent on days you've already logged "Taken" before that time, or on break days. (When "Log "Taken" every day" is off, it's sent every day.) Tap the notification to open the Pill tracker.
  • Your spot on the Home screen shows today's status, like "Pill 10 of your pack." Tap it to open the Pill tracker.

FAQ

Q. Can my partner see that I'm on the pill? Are they notified?

Not at first. Only when you turn on "Show to your partner too" in the pill settings does your partner see your "Bleeding phase," "Sensitive phase," and bleeding records on their calendar, and your current phase ("Bleeding phase," "Sensitive phase," or "Feel-good phase") on their Home screen. On days you log "Bleeding," it shows as "Bleeding phase" even if bleeding wasn't expected. When your partner taps it, they see your next expected bleeding date and a short tip on how to look out for you in this phase. Your pill numbers and break days are never shown to your partner. Tapping "Taken" doesn't notify your partner. When "Show to your partner too" is on and you tap "Bleeding" for the day your bleeding started (today or up to 3 days ago), you're asked "Notify your partner?" just as with period records. Only if you choose "Notify" does your partner get a notification like "(Your name)'s bleeding started today." You aren't asked when you log a day in the middle of your bleeding.

Q. My expected bleeding doesn't match what actually happens

In the pill settings, change "Expected bleeding starts on" (which break day it starts) and "Expected bleeding lasts" (how many days) to fit your own bleeding.

Q. I started a new pack / my pill number is off

Fix it with "Today's pill number" in the pill settings. When a pack ends, the next pack is counted from pill 1 automatically.

Q. What if I miss a pill?

Tap that day's pill on the pack and choose "Missed it" to keep a record of it (your partner can't see this). What to do after a missed pill depends on the type of pill, so the app doesn't make that call. Check the leaflet that came with your pill, or ask the doctor or pharmacist who prescribed it. "If you miss a pill or feel unwell" on the Pill tracker screen also explains when to see a doctor.

Q. What happens to cycle predictions when I stop the pill?

When you choose "Stop tracking your pill" in the pill settings (or "Natural cycle" under the Period tracker's mode), the time you were on the pill is left out of your average cycle. Predictions carry on right away without waiting for your next period, using your cycle from before the pill and your last logged period. It can take 1–3 months for your natural cycle to settle, so predictions are shown as a rough guide until you've logged three periods after stopping. Ovulation can return before your first period, so if you don't want to get pregnant, keep using contraception.

Q. Can I log the name of my medicine or my doctor visits?

No. To keep it simple for couples, it only tracks your pack type and the pills you've taken.
